Layering

Layering is method of organizing complex or multi-dimensional ideas and thought processes. 2 Dimensional layering can help communicate a beginning, middle and end of an idea, the superiority of ideas (ie hierarchial layering) and other information that is relativly similar (ie. parallel layering). Three Dimensional layering helps communicate various amount of information at the same time using the same context.

Layering helps to communicate the relationship that ideas and information have to each other.
Another example of layering is a venn diagram. Venn diagrams show how image or information content differs as well as how it melds into something similiar. This uses three dimensional layering as the information is sorted and overlaps.
